ABOUT THE ARTIST
Jeandré Eli José (he/they) is a visual and performance artist / writer based in Ghent, Belgium. He started writing at a very young age and continues to do so this day. Later he rolled into theater where he came in contact with the performative aspect of the arts. All though he enjoyed it for a while, he felt too boxed in. Solely carrying out other peoples visions didn’t work for them, he was a creator himself. So he ended up in the visual arts, photography, where a new world opened for them and he found a sense of creative freedom. Yet he missed the performativity. That’s how they ended up in performance art where the borders between all the artforms become blurred and an even bigger sense of artistic freedom is unlocked. Therefore his work is hard to put into one category. Most of his work starts from an autobiographical aspect and is transformed into a societal questioning of issues occuring in the present time.
Jeandré is currently entering the last bachelor of Performance, Fine Arts / Visual Arts at KASK school of arts Ghent.

SECTIONS
This website is an artistic archive of Jeandré Eli José.
Even though his works are hard to put into categories, as they are often interconnected, the website is devided into four sections: Performance, Photography, Poetry & Texts, Paintings & Visual Art. In each section you will find the work most fitting to that section. In case of interconnectivity there will be a reference and link to the work in the other section it is connected to or you will be guided to a general page of the work in question. That is why you can find the same work listed in multiple sections. In each section you will find a front page with a list of works from most to least recent.
MENU
In the menu at the top right of the site you will find all sections as well as INFO, IN REAL and IN TOUCH.
- INFO is where you are now, where you learn more about the artist and the website itself.
- IN REAL is where you can find past and upcoming events such as performances and exhibitions.
- IN TOUCH is where you can find a link to all socials as well as a contact form.
PARENTHESES
In the list of works you will sometimes find things in parentheses next to the title of the work. Here is a clarification:
- ( in the works) = This is the work that is currently developing, therefore you cannot click on the page.
- ( ongoing process) = A work that will most likely be continued in the future.
- ( collab ) = Work in collaboration.
